Raiford Parker fought in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Family received the veteran’s Bronze Star that he was never awarded.
The citation reads:
“For meritorious achievement while serving with the Company L, 3rd Battalion, 385th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations on 19 March 1945, in military operations against an armed enemy of the United States. Private Parker’s exemplary performance of duty in active ground combat was in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 385th Infantry Regiment, and the Army of the United States.”
