Willard B. Hinnant

Company E
Willard Hinnant served with the 9th Infantry Division and particpated in the Battle of the Bulge and throughout Germany. He was eligible for and finally received the Bronze Star Medal as well as all the awards he was due.
His Bronze Star citation reads:
“For meritorious achievement while serving with company E, 2d Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment, on 16 February 1945, in support of the 9th Infantry Division’s drive across Germany in the Rhineland campaign. Staff Sergeant Hinnant’s exemplary performance of duty in active ground combat was in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 39th Infantry Regiment and the Army of the United States.”
